The Broadway Theatre of Pitman
Originally opened in May 1926, the Broadway operated as a fully equipped movie and vaudeville theater with 1,090 seats, including the balcony and eight boxes. The opulent New Jersey theatre was created in a French Revival motif by the Philadelphia firm of Eberhard, Magaziner, and Harris.
Two crystal chandeliers light the house and inner lobby of the Broadway. And, a great deal of the original cast plaster detail remains intact today with the original molds still on the premises. A small orchestra pit, four private dressing rooms, a common room, two bathrooms, and a pipe organ blower room in the basement can also be found.
The Broadway Theatre of Pitman still has its original 3/8 Kimball theatre pipe organ – a unique instrument for its size. The Southern Jersey Theatre Organ Society has restored the Kimball to full concert status.

Rachel’s Challenge
Rachel’s Challenge was created after the Columbine High School shooting, in honor of Rachel Scott and the other victims lost on that terrible day. As the first widely known mass school shooting, the Columbine tragedy was a catalyst for action for many people.
After Rachel’s death, her family discovered that she left behind a legacy of kindness and compassion – through her life, her writings, and the people she had reached out to. One after another, stories emerged about the profound impact of her simple acts of kindness.
Her family soon realized that Rachel’s story could help transform the way we relate to each other, and how we feel about ourselves. It provides an antidote: a path to ending school violence, bullying, self-harm and suicide. How? By creating positive connections that improve self-worth and mental health. Rachel’s dad, Darrell Scott, was asked to talk about Rachel so often that he and Rachel’s step-mom Sandy started a non-profit organization for school violence prevention that is Rachel’s Challenge today.

Valhalla Tahoe
In the late 1980s, Carol Spain, the founding Executive Director of the Tahoe Tallac Association (now Valhalla Tahoe) was pouring wine at one of the organization’s arts events when she was introduced to Leo Buscaglia who was attending. Carol shared her dream with Leo to transform the Valhalla boathouse into a community theatre and Leo loved the idea. He committed half of the proceeds from his next book and, along with Carol Spain, committed to developing the project and raising the funds.
This effort was truly a community one, with countless individuals and organizations investing in the project with Spain and Buscaglia and the Tahoe Tallac Association Board of Directors leading the charge. Today the Boathouse Theatre is home to the Valhalla Art, Music, and Theatre Festival, hosting productions that range from world-class musicians to dramatic and comedic theatre.

Christmas Across The Lands
The concept of the show came to me in the 1980's while listening to other shows that were the same year after year. In fact one year I opened up the show, and the CD's had coffee stains on them! I decided then that an annually updated Christmas show would one day be my goal. That was 25 years ago! The show(s) run on the American Forces Radio Network, as well as stations on several other continents, and of course, USA/Canada/England/Caribbean, and others. The show is written, hosted, and produced by myself. Every year tho I lean on a few others for some much appreciated assistance. People like Wally Wingert who plays a valuable part in the shows success as "Wally the Elf". Now you can choose a Classics and Contemporary or Classics and Country version!

The Seneca Falls It’s a Wonderful Life Museum
The Museum started with one display case, special items from the personal collection of Karolyn Grimes (“Zuzu Bailey”) and a wall of quotes from Frank Capra that focus on his personal philosophy of the value of each individual and the timeless message of “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Over the years, rare items have been added to the display, including original call sheets containing the doodles of Jack Okey, Art Director for It’s a Wonderful Life, the original program from the premiere of the film at the Globe Theater in New York City, and earrings owned by Gloria Grahame which she wore as “Violet Bick” in the film.
On display is a certificate presented to Frank Capra by Governor Mario Cuomo on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, donated to the Museum by Frank Capra’s son, Tom. Photos of Frank Capra’s films that were displayed in Tom Capra’s Italian Restaurant in Palm Springs are on display.
Items from the personal collections of Carol Coombs (“Janie Bailey”), Jimmy Hawkins (“Tommy Bailey”) and “Jeanine Roose” (“Young Violet Bick”) that reflect their lives and careers are also on display. An exhibit on Virginia Patton Moss (“Ruth Dakin Bailey”), the oldest surviving cast member, includes her original contract, personal items, and an important recollection from the film.

Salvation Army - Red Kettle Campaign
In 1891, Salvation Army Captain Joseph McFee was distraught because so many poor individuals in San Francisco were going hungry. During the holiday season, he resolved to provide a free Christmas dinner for the destitute and poverty-stricken. He only had one major hurdle to overcome -- funding the project.
Where would the money come from, he wondered. He lay awake nights, worrying, thinking, praying about how he could find the funds to fulfill his commitment of feeding 1,000 of the city's poorest individuals on Christmas Day. As he pondered the issue, his thoughts drifted back to his sailor days in Liverpool, England. He remembered how at Stage Landing, where the boats came in, there was a large, iron kettle called "Simpson's Pot" into which passers-by tossed a coin or two to help the poor.
The next day Captain McFee placed a similar pot at the Oakland Ferry Landing at the foot of Market Street. Beside the pot, he placed a sign that read, "Keep the Pot Boiling." He soon had the money to see that the needy people were properly fed at Christmas.
Six years later, the kettle idea spread from the west coast to the Boston area. That year, the combined effort nationwide resulted in 150,000 Christmas dinners for the needy. In 1901, kettle contributions in New York City provided funds for the first mammoth sit-down dinner in Madison Square Garden, a custom that continued for many years. Today in the U.S., The Salvation Army assists more than four-and-a-half million people during the Thanksgiving and Christmas time periods.
